We’d decided last night to go thru early to Cape Aghulas in the morning, picking up fuel and breakfast ? in Bredasdorp en route.
We woke to a decidedly cool and foggy morning and departed at around 8am.
Hank and Ray has decided to stay behind till the fog lifted…….as it turned out just 20 km away,in Bredasdorp, the sun was shining and the temp was already around 25 C.
After a substantial breakfast at SPUR we rode the 25 km to Cape Aghulas in bright sunshine. The mist rolled in a little later and, after strolling around the local art/craft shops for a while, we headed back to a hot Bredasdorp and found an amazing Shipwreck museum documenting the myriad shipwrecks in the vicinity, through the ages.
They also had a shed with a bunch of Voortrekker oxwagons and the like,as well as various paraphernalia from a bygone era.
Landed back at the SPUR late afternoon for 1st class burgers to save having to bother cooking on this our last evening.
We’ve got through almost 2 weeks with superb weather throughout but tomorrow’s forecast is for a bit of rain heading back home.
Would’ve liked to have taken them via Hermanus and the coast road but that would be a little pointless if it’s pissing down.
Ah well,…..let’s see??
